LEPD Officers Help Locate Abducted Child

Officers from the Little Elm Police Department worked quickly to locate a 10-year-old girl who was kidnapped over the weekend.

In just hours after an Amber Alert was released for Halley Boerner, taken from Pilot Point, LEPD officers spotted the vehicle she was riding in with her biological father at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Monday near a U-Haul station in Little Elm.

The girl's father, William Boerner, 33, was ultimately stopped by Little Elm police officers and Halley was taken from the vehicle into safety. William Boerner is being charged with one count of kidnapping and is being held on $500,000 bail.

The Amber Alert for Halley Boerner was released at midnight on Sunday after her mother called authorities saying that her daughter had been taken by her father, who was "refusing" to return her. Halley and William Boerner were thought to be in Nacogdoches or a surrounding city.

William Boerner, who has a criminal history of family-violence assault, unauthorized motor vehicle usage, and theft, does not have the authority to see Halley in an unsupervised setting and is allowed one-hour supervised visits per court orders. He took Halley from a daycare center in Pilot Point on Friday afternoon.

Due to his violent history, the Amber Alert warned the public that they should not approach William Boerner's 1998 white GMC pickup truck with plumbing logos, but to alert the police instead.

Little Elm police officers in conjunction with officers from the Denton County Fresh Water Supply District 10 performed a felony traffic stop taking Boerner into custody.  Upon searching the vehicle, they found Halley unharmed and contacted the Pilot Point Police Department.

Both William and Halley Boerner were turned over to the PPPD.
