New to Town? New to Texas? Not new, but just want to get out of the house, have fun, and meet new people? Well, now you can with the Little Elm Recreation Center Social Nights!
What are Social Nights?
Social Nights are a once a month gathering at a local restaurant to mix and mingle with fellow Little Elm Recreation Center members and other Town residents.
The Benefits of Being Social
We are encouraging Rec members and Town of Little Elm residents to get out and be social because being social is a critical component of good health and involves developing healthy and meaningful relationships and creating a support system or network that includes family members and friends.
There are significant physical, cognitive, and social health benefits to being active and participating in social activities, including:
Strengthening Your Immune System. Social wellness studies have revealed that when people are isolated, they frequently have higher levels of inflammation and weaker immune systems than individuals who have community and social connections.
Reduced Risk of Disease. Being social and active can also help to reduce the risk of developing a chronic condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, and dementia.
Decreased Depression. Individuals who build and foster healthy relationships and who stay active also have a reduced risk for depression.
Lengthen Your Life. Studies have shown that individuals who stay social not only live healthier lives, they also live longer than their peers who are not social.
Some additional benefits of Social Night include a chance for you to:
- Establish relationships with others in our community
- Gain motivation and support to reach your health and fitness goals
- Strengthen your connections to the community
- Finding potential teammates or workout partners
