Beyond Books: Learn About the Library

When you first think of the Little Elm Public Library, your first thought is most likely going to be about books. But, did you know that the Little Elm Public Library offers more than just books? In this blog, we take you beyond books to tell you about some of the pretty cool things we are proud to offer.

Book Club. Love books? Consider joining the LEPL Book Club. The Book Club meets at the Library on fourth Wednesday nights, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., from January to December, and takes on exciting titles, topics and authors.

Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Hot Spots. Need to use the Internet? We've got free Wi-Fi at the Library for you. Need to take the Internet to go? We can help with that, too. The Library offers mobile hotspots for you to check out and use on the go!

Electronic Resources and Digital Books. Need to do some research? No worries, we have you covered. The LEPL offers patrons a wide variety of databases for research and learning, as well as e-books, audiobooks, digital magazines, and comic books. We also provide online college prep and exam materials, resume makers, GED help, and other educational resources.

Seed Library. Did you know in addition to the hundreds of books that we have to check out that we also house a Seed Library? You can look through our seed packet offers, which includes flowers, herbs, fruits, and vegetables, or search through our seed index list. You can check out up to eight packs of seeds at a time to take home and start planting!

Stuff for Kids. Not only do we have a great selection of children's books, but we also have activities for your littles as well. We offer weekly events such as Family Craft time each Monday, several story time sessions throughout the week, a Lego club, a Circuitry club, and much more!

The Makerspace. Thanks to a generous donation by the Little Elm Friends of the Library, we’ve updated our maker equipment. In addition to our new Makerbot Replicator+ 3D printer, and Zmorph VX 3-in-one CNC mill, 3D printer and laser cutter, we’re also getting a Full Spectrum P-Series Laser Cutter and Engraver. Visit free sites like Thingiverse and Tinkercad to get inspired. What will you make today?

We are excited to share with you that we are hosting a ribbon cutting for the new Makerspace on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In addition to the ribbon cutting, there will be a Council presentation and a reception with music and refreshments. We hope you will join us!
