Town’s CDC board of directors seeks three volunteers

Deadline to apply for consideration is July 20

LITTLE ELM (June 29, 2018) The board of directors of Little Elm’s Community Development Corporation is looking for three community volunteers to serve alongside them, occupying the positions of those board members whose terms are expiring on Aug. 2.

The Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation that provides leadership and funding for projects that enhance and preserve Little Elm’s quality of life.  Deadline for submitting applications for consideration is 5 p.m., Friday, July 20.

The eight-member board, which includes seven citizens and one member of the Town Council, oversees and administers the use of funds for a wide variety of projects that benefit residents of Little Elm.

Often called the 4B because of the legislation that created it, the CDC’s seven community volunteers are appointed by the Town Council.

The state legislation which authorized CDCs specifies that funds can be used for, among other things, land, buildings, equipment, facilities, expenditures and improvements for professional and amateur sports facilities, park facilities and events, entertainment, convention and tourist facilities.

In Little Elm, CDC funds are used primarily for construction projects, parks development, special events and community improvement activities that help create an atmosphere which embraces the Town as a center for family entertainment and amusement.

Applications for the positions may be found on the Town of Little Elm website on the Boards, Commissions & Corporations page under the Government tab of the Town’s home page or by visiting:

Interested individuals must have been residents of Little Elm for a minimum of one year, be of high moral character and be willing to devote time, effort, expertise and energy to the position.

Individuals who qualify for consideration will undergo interviews with a panel which includes the Mayor, a member of the Town Council and a member of the CDC.  Interviews will occur shortly after the deadline expires, and each qualifying applicant will be notified of their specific interview time by the CDC staff.
