The Little Elm Public Library, as authorized by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, is an official Tackle Loaner site!
Library patrons with cards in good standing are allowed to check out up to two (2) fishing rods per person, or two (2) rods total per family. Tackle boxes can also be checked out and these include extra hooks, bobbers, weights, and a pair of pliers.
Equipment can only be checked out to patrons 17 years of age or older (or a minor with an adult present). As part of the agreement with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, the Library is required to have patrons fill out an agreement form (located at the front desk) for each instance equipment is checked out.
The Library does not sell fishing licenses, however, patrons can obtain these by going to the Texas Parks & Wildlife website. Licenses are required for fishing in any public waterways in Texas (unless you are fishing in a Texas State Park). It is the responsibility of the patron to obtain and maintain a current license. More information about licensing can be found at the web link above.
Fishing equipment can be checked out for three weeks with one automatic renewal. All equipment must be brought back to the front counter of the Library to be checked back in.
Lastly, if you make a catch, take a pic! We’d love to display your photos of your catches here at the Library! And for the younger anglers we have “First Catch” award certificates, issued by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department! Be sure to tag the Little Elm Public Library on Facebook!
Be sure to check our Library calendar for beginning angler classes. These classes are open to anyone and are led by Justin Swink, Reference/Tech Services Librarian. Justin has been certified with Texas Parks & Wildlife to teach beginning angler courses.
