We celebrate Juneteenth as it marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and announce ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops' arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday.

Join us on Saturday, June 18, 2022, for the Inaugural Little Elm Juneteenth Freedom Run - timed and untimed 5K run. The event is open to all ages! Each participant will receive a t-shirt, water bottle and other goodies.
