Division Summary
The Engineering Department manages the design and construction of roadways, water and sewer lines, storm water, drainage facilities and other public infrastructure. The department also coordinates with other agencies on the design, construction, and maintenance of other infrastructure improvements. Construction of new Town facilities is also administered by this department.

Agencies Working in Little Elm
The following agencies are responsible for different areas of construction within the town:
  • The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of federal and state highways. Within the Town of Little Elm, this includes US 380 (Doe Creek – Providence Blvd.), FM 423, FM 720/Eldorado Parkway (Little Elm Parkway – Hill Lane).
  • Denton County is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of roadways in unincorporated areas. They coordinate with TxDOT, NCTCOG, and local municipalities to design, construct, and fund roadways that benefit the County.
  • The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) coordinates among the various local governments and other agencies in North Texas to prioritize and allocate federal funds to projects that benefit the region.
  • The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of water treatment plants, major water transmission lines, serving a variety of communities north and east of Dallas. Distribution and collection lines within each community are the responsibility of that community.
