The Criminal Investigation Division (C.I.D.) conducts follow-up investigations to offense and incident reports initiated by the Patrol Division. C.I.D. works diligently on assigned cases that are originally handled by the Patrol Division. Currently, the four-man team has over 50 years of Patrol and Detective experience combined.
Detectives assigned to C.I.D. are responsible for carrying out complete and thorough investigations. There are numerous responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
- Interviewing witnesses and suspects
- Surveillance
- Preparation and execution of search and arrest warrants
- Processing crime scenes
- Submitting evidence to crime labs
- Proficiency training
- Registered Sex Offender compliance checks
- Preparation of case reports for submission to the District Attorney’s Office
- Court and Grand Jury testimony
- Crime analysis
- Networking with other agencies
Although, the Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for a broad range of investigations, we emphasize professionalism, adaptability and responsiveness to our community's needs.
